During a storage operation in a vestry north of Alsace, we found a antependium quality. Made to the exact dimensions of the altar (which dates from the late eighteenth century), antependium is made of tapestry, petit point. The scenery, as shown in the photo, highlights the monogram of Mary A., in two initial lines curves; The decor consists of floral elements whose colors have retained much freshness.
A curiosity: the Virgin described in the Apocalypse is crowned with 12 stars. However, our object has only 9 stars above the monogram.
The antependium can be dated to the early nineteenth century It is small enough in Alsace for the latter to be reported and kept in good conditions.
